FAQ

Where is your office located?

I am in College Station, Texas, but because I only see clients via telehealth, I can be on your computer wherever you are in the great Lone Star State!

What are your hours?

I want therapy to be convenient for your busy schedule, so I offer evening hours from 5 pm to 8 pm Monday through Thursday and Saturdays from 8 am to noon – all CST.

How long are sessions?

My sessions are 45-50 minutes.

Do you take insurance?

Yes, currently, I am in-network for Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, Brighton, Carelon Behavioral Health, Cigna, Decent, Optum, Oscar (Optum), Oxford (Optum), Quest Behavioral Health, Sidecar Health, United Healthcare Medicare Advantage, and United Healthcare (Optum).

Will You Provide a Superbill for out-of-network costs?

Yes, we can work together to make that happen.

What is your out-of-network fee?

The fee is $150 per individual session and $175 per couple session. I schedule and bill through Rula, which accepts all major credit cards, including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and HSA/FSA accounts.

What is your cancellation policy?

You will not be charged if you cancel on my website or through Rula 24 hours in advance – anything less than 24 hours is billed at the full rate.

How do I make an appointment?

Easy peasy – click on Rula or my website and follow the prompts to set up a convenient day and time for you.

What is a free initial phone consultation?

I want you to feel comfortable setting up an initial appointment by clicking on Rula or my website. So we spend about 15 minutes talking either online or over the phone. We can get to know each other and see if we are a ‘good fit’ to go forward.

What is your professional training and experience?

I’m so glad you asked. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the great state of Texas.

I am certified in two trauma modalities – Cognitive Processing Therapy and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy.

I have extensive experience and training, and I am currently pursuing my Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing certification.

In addition, I am trained in Christian Counseling, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, Somatic Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Prolonged Grief Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy.

What age ranges do you work with?

I see clients between the ages of 16 and 99.

Do you work with women, men, and couples?

Yes, yes, and yes, within the ages of 13 and 99.

Are you LGBTQIA friendly?

I welcome and work with members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and I am actively pursuing additional training to further strengthen my skills and understanding.

What is therapy like with you?

Starting therapy can feel intimidating – even a little scary – at first. That’s why my priority is to help you feel at ease from the very beginning.

Before our first session, you’ll fill out a short questionnaire so I can better understand your needs. We’ll then begin with a relaxed, easy conversation, where I’ll answer your questions and emphasize that your confidentiality is always protected.

During that first meeting, we’ll work together to set meaningful goals for what you’d like to accomplish, creating a clear path for your time in therapy.

How long will I be in therapy?

My goal is for you to no longer need me in the best way possible. Together, we’ll decide when it’s the right time to end therapy. Ethically, I will never keep you in therapy longer than is clinically necessary.

Why can’t I talk to my friends, siblings, parents, or partner – why see you?

Friends, siblings, parents, and partners can be excellent sources of support, and I encourage you to lean on those relationships. But I’m here for you if you’re seeking healing and professional expertise.

Our work is grounded in a client–therapist relationship built on complete confidentiality. When you speak, I’m not thinking about what I want to say. Instead, I’m fully present, listening with care, and focused entirely on you in every session.

Do I have to cry during our sessions?

All emotions are welcome here, but it’s never my goal to make you or anyone cry. Tears can come from pain, from joy, or from the release of finally being heard.

What are your strengths as a therapist?

I bring curiosity, empathy, compassion, thoroughness, knowledge, patience, and integrity to my work. Above all, I am an ethical and trustworthy individual committed to working collaboratively with you as a team.

Disney or Pixar?

My family is a member of the Disney Vacation Club, so I gotta go with Disney.

Last Christmas, my husband and I visited our youngest daughter and her husband in Okinawa, Japan. He is a Marine and was stationed there at the time. We visited Tokyo Disney, and it was terrific but crowded!

Are you adventurous?

I would love to say YES! But truthfully, I am a little scared of rollercoasters, whitewater kayaking, and horror movies.

What is the popular notion about psychotherapists and light bulbs?

Well, it doesn’t take much for a psychotherapist to change a light bulb, but then the light bulb needs to want to be changed.
